Last Story Slam Before the Summer on June 9

The stories just keep coming at the Story Slam and each one is different but strikes a chord with people who come to listen to them. Monday, June 9 is the next evening of Story Slam at the Glengarrian Pub and another round of exciting memories and anecdotes.

This month’s story theme is “A Summer Before Cellphones”. The stories start at 7:30 PM and if you want to tell your tale, registration starts at 7:00 PM. This is the last chance before the summer to be part of a totally different experience. Come and tell a story or be part of the audience.

Story Slam Rules

Stories must be:

• Original and true
• 5 minutes max (with 30 sec grace)
• No notes, no props, no music
• No poetry, rants, or hate speech—just a story!

Know your first and last lines, and bring a printed copy just in case. Names are drawn at random from the sign-up list.

Prizes

• 1st Place: $25 Glen Gift Card
• 2nd Place: $15 241 Pizza Gift Card
• Secret Word Prize: For the first story that includes a secret word
• Line of the Night: Awarded for the best one-liner

Judging Criteria

Judges rate each story from 1 to 10 based on:

• Relevance to the theme
• Structure (beginning, middle, end)
• Delivery and presence
• Time management (yellow at 3:30, red at 4:30, disqualified at 6:00)

Most importantly: have fun and be real!
